If it weren't for: 要不是
要不是 A（的话），Subj. + 早就 / 就…了 · Traditional: 要不是 A（的話），Subj. + 早就 / 就…了
要不是 (yàobushì) rewinds reality — "if it weren't for…": 要不是你帮我，我早就迟到了 "if you hadn't helped me, I'd have been late long ago". The thing after 要不是 really DID happen; you're imagining it away, so the second half describes what would have gone wrong, often with 早就 or 就…了.
That backward look separates it from 如果…不: 如果明天不下雨 is a real, open future; 要不是下雨 means it did rain and things already turned out the way they did. An optional 的话 can close the first half: 要不是你的话.

If mom hadn't woken me, I'd definitely have slept till noon.
Common mistakes
✗ 要不是明天下雨，我们就去爬山。
✓ 如果明天不下雨，我们就去爬山。
要不是 looks back at what already happened — open future conditions use 如果…不.
